Rugged Italian island of Stromboli with its smoldering volcano is becoming a the top holiday destination this summer, while celebrities are being seduced by the island's charms.
Stromboli is hot - literally, with an active volcano on the background.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, as well as Robert De Niro, Sting and Bruce Springsteen have been seen walking Stromboli's pedestrian-only streets lined with bougainvillea and lemon trees.
At Stromboli, Pitt and Jolie were content to stroll the black lava rock beaches hand-in-hand, stopping to buy a sarong and a volcano-painted T-shirt at a local store, while Cruise, Sting and De Niro got an up-close look at the volcano's erupting crater.
After sunning herself on the deck of her yacht off Stromboli's neighboring island Lipari, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony went ashore to try some of the area's local cuisine at restaurant Pulera — including pasta with capers.
