The Mini-Lipo: Liposuction in a Bottle

New, minimally-invasive liposuction-like procedures developed by Toronto doctor are making spot-reduction of fat and body contouring.

No matter how carefully you eat or how hard you work out, sometimes you just can't get rid of saddlebags (fat pads on the outer thighs), love handles or post-partum baby bellies. Your only recourse to date has been traditional liposuction, but for small problem areas liposuction is really overkill.

Many people reject the liposuction because of the cost, downtime, pain and inconvenience involved. They can't afford to lose time from work, don't want to wear a constrictive garment plus be prohibited from exercising for 6-8 weeks AND pay thousands of dollars for the privilege!

Onto the scene comes the Mini-Lipo. Developed by Toronto cosmetic surgeon
Dr. Stan Gore, this procedure elegantly solves these concerns by combining elements of tumescent liposuction with Infusion Lipolysis, a proprietary medical treatment that shrinks fat cells. In a 1 to 1 1/2 hour procedure, with the patient fully awake, sterile fluid containing local anaesthesia and medication that breaks down fat is injected into the problem area. Then the process is reversed; fluid and fat are slowly and gently removed with a syringe and fine cannula.

The absence of vigorous suction and large cannulas creates a patient-friendly procedure with minimal pain, swelling and bruising. Instead of being bedridden, patients are sent directly to the gym to work out. They're back to work right away after their not-so-extreme makeover, seeing results within a few weeks.

One risk of traditional surgery is suction of too much fat, leaving unsightly gouges, grooves, irregularities and loose skin. To minimize this risk, the Mini-Lipo removes about half the fat of traditional liposuction, yet surprisingly yields Maxi results. The remaining fat cells and overlying skin actually shrink during the next few months, thanks Infusion Lipolysis, the second component of the treatment.

Dr. Stan Gore, Medical Director of LIPIDOCTOR Medical Slimming Clinics, describes the process. "Following the Mini-Lipo, our patients massage transdermal creams into the treated area every day at home or at the gym. These creams actually penetrate through the skin into fat. They contain medications which promote a high rate of fat breakdown, tighten the overlying skin and block new fat accumulation. Because tissue firms up with our treatment, a saddlebag Mini-Lipo not only alters your shape and improves clothing fit within two weeks, but it can actually give you a butt lift as an added benefit! And the results are sustainable."
