Lil'Kim, the hip hop and style diva, was accused of lying to a jury and was sentenced to one year in prison.
Lil'Kim, 29, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and fine of $50,000 after she was convicted last March on perjury and conspiracy charges.
Lil'Kim will also spend three years on probation.
Lil'Kim was accused of lying to grand jury to protect friends involved in a gun battle outside a New York radio station.
At the shootout, two members of her group opened fire on rival hip-hop. A feud had been brewing, according to prosecutors, between the groups after Lil'Kim made derogatory comments on the radio about fellow female rapper Foxy Brown.
Lil'Kim was accused of lying 29 times in three court appearances in 2003 when she told a grand jury that her manager was not at the radio station and that she did not know her former bodyguard.
“I would like to thank all of my supporters who have stood by my side throughout this entire ordeal,” said Lil'Kim in a statement released shortly after she was sentenced.
“The many prayers and hundreds of letters of support, e-mails and kind words that have poured in have been overwhelming and critical in helping my family.”
