Vanessa Hudgens is getting ready to howl with the cast of "Twilight" sequel, as she is being considered for a role in the"New Moon," Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The "High School Musical" star has auditioned for the role of Leah Clearwater, the series' lone female werewolf, and is "up for the role," a source close to Summit Entertainment confirmed.

However, "no official casting announcement has been made," the source added.

 

"I think she'd be great," Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen in the film series, told MTV.com.

Vanessa's potential character would not be a love interest for Taylor's character though - in the sequel, Jacob Black becomes romantically involved with Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart).
