Borat may finally make it to Kazakhstan to see the glorious nation by himself.
The fictional reporter from Kazakhstan, Borat, played by Ali G comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, portrays the country as racist, sexist and primitive.
No wonder Kazakh people are less than happy about the movie that scored the top box office spot over the weekend.
"It’s completely inaccurate," said Susan Saxon, administrative executive director of the Providence-based Kazakh Aul of the U.S. Association for American & Kazakh Families.
"It’s a beautiful country with wonderful people. They don’t drink horse urine and the women are beautiful." [1]
"Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," a low-budget mockumentary about Borat's travel across the USA following American sex symbol Pamela Anderson, was released on Friday and is expected to be a box office hit.
The Kazakh government has invited the comedian to the country to see it for himself.
Deputy Foreign Minister Rakhat Aliyev said: "I'd like to invite Cohen here. He can discover a lot of things. Women drive cars, wine is made of grapes, and Jews are free to go to synagogue.
"We must have a sense of humour and respect other people's freedom of creativity." [2]
Kazakhstan's largest chain of cinemas, Otau, said in September it will not show the film.
