Batman Begins holds onto first place at the US box office for the second straight week, according preliminary figures out Sunday.
Batman Begins continues to top the North American box office bringing 121.6 million dollars in two weeks, according to Exhibitor Relations, which tracks box office figures.
Bewitched based on the 1960s TV sitcom and starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell, opened in second place, grossing about 20.2 million dollars.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith came third with 16.7 million dollars, followed by the debut of Herbie: Fully Loaded (12.7 million dollars), a car racing movie with Lindsay Lohan behind the wheel.
Rounding out the top five was George A. Romero's Land of the Dead, the fourth installment of the flesh-munching zombie saga from the director of Night of the Living Dead. It debuted with 10.2 million dollars.
Even with strong Batman Begins debut, the film industry's overall earnings, however, continued to plunge.
If the downward trend continues, Hollywood would face its third straight year of lax admissions and its lowest ticket sales since the mid-1990's.
