There are some stars that we like no matter what. Hilary Duff is one of them. She is young, blonde and fashionably sensible. But sometimes her projects are too weird. We are talking The Perfect Man here.
In the "The Perfect Man" Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear (most famous for her hair color ads) play daughter and mother. They are blonde, pretty, sweet and look like sisters, although we know that the age difference between them is at least nine months.
Jean (Locklear) is never happy in love. She is constantly chasing men and hooking up with losers. And when they break up, Jean and daughter move across country - about three times a year.
Holly (Duff), sweet, pretty and cute Jean’s daughter wearing tight super-low-cut pants, is sick of living like a refugee. Holly can't keep friends, one of whom gave her a designer gown that she never got to wear because they suddenly moved to Brooklyn. Universal problem, no less.
To cheer her lonely mom, Holly creates her a fake online boyfriend – truly perfect man, in the way a teenager imagines him. “Perfect Man” begins the flirt with a flower and a note, but soon escalates to emails, instant messages, and a phone call, all of which Holly conducts herself.
Chris Noth plays that imaginary romantic hero - her friend's handsome Uncle Ben, - and of course he is sweet, cute and pretty.
Now the real fun begins (almost.) Holly almost ruins Ben's restaurant, almost makes her mom move again, and almost breaks up with boyfriend. Finally her mom fixes things to happy ending. If “Perfect Man” was shot in Bollywood, everybody would be dancing their heads off now.
“Perfect Man” has mild rating of PG, but parents should know that the very plot of “Perfect Man” completely lacks moral boundaries. We despise the whole idea of daughter manipulating her trustworthy and lonely mother. The weird factor reaches its creepy peak when Holly’s boyfriend flirts with her mother over the phone, and vice versa.
Bottom line: everybody in “Perfect Man” is so-o-o-o-o cute! It’s like, you know, a perfect movie.
