Mr. & Mrs. Smith, dark comedy and impressive action movie, grossed an remarkable $51.1 million this weekend, according to studio estimates from box office tracker Nielsen EDI. This number is career best for Pitt, Jolie and the director, Doug Liman.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s debut is the best for Pitt and Jolie and was more than $10 million expected by the studio and industry analysts, USA Today reports.
Paramount Pictures had hoped to do better than $40 million. Mr. and Mrs. Smith costs about $110 million to make, Fox said.
