New film by Steven Soderberg will go multimedia at once!

Oscar-winning director will release six films at theaters, on DVD, and through pay-per-view cable and satellite options simultaneously.

Steven Soderbergh's next film, called "Bubble," won't just be in theaters this fall. The award-winning director of "Traffic" believes in this new type of distribution.

"In the next five years, you are going to see some significant paradigm shifts in the entertainment business," said Mr. Soderbergh. He believes distribution changes are coming to Hollywood.

The reaction from theater chains will not be enthusiastic. The debut of the documentary "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" to theaters and on television, was snubbed by Regal Entertainment and its 6,200 screens.

"Economically, the film business in general is using a model that is outdated and, worse than that, inefficient," said Mr. Soderbergh. "It's worth finding out if this is going to work better for audiences."
