Vanity Fair front cover with Jennifer Aniston proved the magazine's best selling issue of all time.
Vanity Fair September issue, featuring Jennifer Aniston of Friends posing provocatively in a white shirt, sold more than 650,000 copies in the US.
In an emotional interview Jennifer Aniston poured her heart out, tearfully speaking about her break-up with Brad Pitt and his relationship with Angelina Jolie. However, she later regretted for being so emotional, as she feared some people will take that as a sign of weakness.
"But I am a tough cookie," Jennifer said in an interview to a Vanity Fair's contributing editor Leslie Bennetts.
"She's gone through this ordeal with her head held high, her values securely in place, and her self-respect intact. She has a lot to feel proud about," says Leslie Bennetts in Vanity Fair's Contributors' segment.
Beth Kseniak, Vanity Fair spokeswoman, said the best-selling issues tended to capture the public mood and focus on people who had generated a lot of attention.
"We knew (the Aniston cover) would be a big seller," she said. "People seem to be fascinated with her and Pitt and Jolie.
"It was also Jennifer’s first and only interview so if they wanted to read it they had to go out and buy it."
Average monthly sales are generally in the region of between 390,000 and 400,000.
The issue with Jennifer Aniston had originally been due to be published in October but was brought forward due to fears of leaks.
