Seems like there would be fewer designers participating in the fashion week this time, compared to the last season, but there are some interesting labels to be discovered. We look forward to seeing Fairyesque, Fantine and can't wait to cover the debut Fashion Week presentation by Fashion Nation.
The opening day will be kick-started by perennial favourites Mackage, followed by up to 20 shows and offsite events - impossible to predict, as the schedule is being changed often.
Anyway, we at Fashion Monitor look forward to some serious fun.
Here's my personal wish list of ten things I would love to see on Canadian runways this time:
1. More black - not just cheap shiny black, but shades of black, from muted charcoals to warm black chocolates.
2. Coloured furs, natural or faux, who cares.
3. Shades of green, from emerald to khaki and mustard.
4. Zero brocade, zero corsets, close to zero ruffles.
5. Pearl embroidery, black on black embroidery.
6. More designer denim, raw and deconstructed.
7. Layered full long skirts, similar to ones at Nina Ricci fall-2007 collection.
8. More reworked fabrics - hey guys, start remodelling clothes like Martin Margiela. It's cheap, eco-friendly and uber-stylish if you do it right. Just don't turn sweaters into harem pants like Preloved did.
9. More experiments with chic puffy coats - Comrags, we are looking at you. Fashionista need warmth and comfort, too.
