Black makes you look thin, sexy and mysterious. It can also make you look blunt and dipped in lint. You choose.
Black is officially back, and big time.
This time, black is not your regular black turtleneck that makes you look mysterious in a way "sitting on a coffin drinking coffee." This fall, black is 3D, textured, embellished and really, really expensive.
Everyone from Prada to Chanel via Gucci is doing ensembles in black. With oversized blousons and pipe trousers at Gucci (hello, Tom Ford) to frayed edges at Rochas and thigh-high boots at Chanel (lucky those who didn't discard their Balenciagas three years ago) - black is layered, rhinestoned, embroidered and not plain at all.
The key to wearing it right is layering and decorating it. Bows, fur collars, shiny patent-leather bags - everything goes to make the look less of a funeral. Black stretchy over-the-knee boots are a perfect investment - plus, you can skip pantyhose. And a right pair of wool black trousers will serve you a few seasons to come.
And even if you can't spend a fortune on Chloe pants, black fabric will hide all the flaws.
