Today everyone needs a pair of luxe cowboy boots - they are new Uggs.
A few days ago a well-known TV personality told me that he wears Rocco P. shoes only inside – not outside. I humbly murmured that I have twelve pairs of quite beaten Rocco Ps at home. Fine, I am a shoeaholic. And if you buy a pair of Roccos, they will last you for years and years. That’s how I accumulated my shoe wealth.
This year, everybody wears some kind of a cowboy boot. And that’s the boot that made Rocco P. famous. They did cowboy boots in brown and white, with a pointy toe, a square toe, a narrow toe, hand-painted, in dotted leather that looks like gauze (I have these), and everything in between. Naturally, they have fabulous mules and comfiest oxfords, but cowboy boots is they idée fix.
I just happen to know the guys personally. And yes, they do have a discount for fashion media.
Anyway, cowboy boots are hot. Period. Jessica Simpson is flaunting her vintage Frye boots, and Jennifer Aniston buys a reserved yet classy pair of Sergio Rossi ones. Cowboy boots are new Uggs. People wear them with jeans tucked in, with full festive skirts and even with little black dresses. When covering the FASHIONWEEK from the front row of photographers, I noticed a few things about cowboy boots that you may find interesting.
Firstly, never wear them with your regular jeans tucked in. This created an unattractive bump in the knee area. Jeans for the new luxe cowboy boot should be tight like the second skin. Or at least plain narrow. But not flared.
Secondly, wear them with flare - pun not intended. Going all black with cowboy boot looks pretentious. Throw in some massive jewellery, maybe a hobo bag, maybe a paisant top. But don’t go too cowgirl. Wearing a straw hat, a fringed hobo, a studded leather jacket and a flouncy patterned skirt with cowboy boots will make you look like an employee of a cowboy resort in Smoky Mountains.
Finally, don’t go too vintage. Cowboy boots that look like they were worn by generations of bikers won’t add you any cool. Frye boots are just right – they look worn, but are well-made so that they just get better with age.
