John Monteith's second solo exhibition opens at XEXE Gallery entitled (re)constructing Love.
This series of drawing-based paintings explore motion between object and figure within architectural environments.
John Monteith captures the essence of his subject through the use of contour line drawings, which are then layered obscuring spatial perception. The repeated layering of the image on top of itself creates a sense of animation.
It is Monteith's intent to reference the impossibility of achieving stillness in ones physical, emotional and mental space due to the overwhelming number of interpersonal interactions along with the large volume of disposable information surrounding one within an urban environment.
This fall John Monteith will be furthering his studies at the Parsons School of Design in New York, as he was awarded a scholarship for their Masters of Fine Arts program.
