Amy Winehouse was "close to death twice" during her lowest moments, the singer's father Mitch has said in the upcoming documentary, Saving Amy.

"We have been working a lot to get her to where she is right now," said Winehouse, who now claims his daughter is free of drugs.

Mitch Winehouse also lashes out at the media, slamming the way it seemed to revel in his daughter's downfall.

"They didn't see her lying in bed for days in a dark room," he says.

 

Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse has vowed to stop husband Blake Fielder-Civil divorcing her. "I still love my Blake. I won't let him divorce me," she said.

"Blake is the male version of me. We're perfect for each other. I don't want to go back home to England. I want to wait for Blake here," she is quoted saying on holiday in St Lucia.
