Madonna celebrated her 50th birthday with her family at a lavish party at swanky Mayfair club Volstead on Saturday.

The Material Girl’s husband, Guy Ritchie, and her children Lourdes, Rocco and David were all in attendance, but her A-list pals Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow were conspicuous by their absence.

Madonna bitterly acknowledged missing guests, when she said, "I'm really disappointed. There are a lot of people who are not here tonight, but thanks to everyone who did make it."

 

"I can't believe I have reached half a century. It only happens once and this is an event I'm glad to be sharing with you," Madonna said.

Highlights of the party reportedly included £450 bottles of Krug Rose champagne, kosher Wagyu beef, caviar and a three-tiered chocolate, raspberry and vanilla cake covered in crystallised rose petals, plus Guy telling his wife, "Out of all your years, you look your most beautiful."
