Heath Ledger Was Dying When Maid Called Mary-Kate Olsen
The masseuse who found Heath Ledger's body spent nine minutes making three calls to starlet Mary-Kate Olsen before dialling for emergency help, police now reveal.
The masseuse who found Heath Ledger's body spent nine minutes making calls to Mary-Kate Olsen before dialling for emergency help, police now revealed.
Police originally said the masseuse made two calls to Olsen seeking her help about what to do, but revised it to four after taking a closer look at phone records.
And masseuse Diana Wolozin called Mary-Kate Olsen, 21, fourth time after paramedics arrived accompanied with Olsen's security guards.
Police believe Heath Ledger, 28, was already dead when Wolozin found his body and that the delay in calling authorities could not have saved the actor.
The "party pals", as Ledger and Olsen are described now, are believed to have been friendly for two years - a friendship they were able to key out of the public spotlight.
They are believed to have been casually dating for the past three months.
"More recently, Mary-Kate and Heath were casually dating for three months before Heath's death," a source has told People magazine, "They were hooking up, but neither were particularly interested in making it exclusive."
Investigators examining the last hours of Ledger's life - the actor was found dead in his Manhattan Soho apartment this week - have been piecing together how Olsen came to have such a critical role in the tragedy.
Ledger's housekeeper went into his bedroom at 1pm local time to change a light bulb, saw him sleeping and heard what she thought was snoring.
Wolozin showed up for Ledger's appointment about 2.45pm, knocked on his door and called his mobile phone at 3pm to wake him up.
After setting up her massage table, she tried to wake Ledger and realized something was wrong.
Phone records show at 3.17pm, she made a call to Mary-Kate Olsen that lasted 49 seconds.
At 3.20pm she made another call - this one lasting a minute and 39 seconds.
She made a third call at 3.24, which lasted 21 seconds, then called emergency dispatchers at 3.26pm.
Before this frenzy, Olsen, who was in California, summoned her personal security guards to the apartment to help with the situation, police said.
Paramedics arrived at 3.33pm, and actually went up in the elevator to the apartment with Olsen's security guards, but did not allow them into the bedroom.
Ledger was declared dead at 3.36pm - 19 minutes after the first call to Olsen.
Wolozin called Olsen a final time at 3.34pm. The duration of that call was unknown.
The masseuse, who had a regular massage appointment with Ledger, was able to ring Olsen by dialling the number Ledger had stored on his phone.
