Mischa Barton got caught in festive spirit a little bit too deep.

The former "The O.C" star was arrested on December 27 in the early hours of the morning after police noticed her car swerving and she made an illegal turn.

The L.A. County Sheriff Department released a statement, saying, "During Ms. Barton's detention, it was determined that she was an unlicensed driver and was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Ms. Barton was arrested and transported to West Hollywood Sheriff's station where the booking process was completed without incident."

According to PEOPLE, the actress and spokesmodel was also caught with an illegal narcotic, but details have not been released.

Mischa, who has three films being released in 2008, has been on the outskirts of the Young Hollywood party scene since she shot to fame in teen soap opera "The O.C".

The 21-year-old star has dated Paris Hilton's BFF's Brandon Davis and Cisco Adler. During the Paris and Nicole Richie fight, Mischa sided with Nicole and was frequently seen partying with the socialite.

Lindsay Lohan was the Hollywood Wild Child of 07, but Mischa could be the new 'It Girl' of 08.

Both Lindsay and Paris have tamed their wild ways after a respective rehab and prison sentence. Nicole, meanwhile, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Joel Madden.

Mischa played bad-girl Marissa Cooper on "The O.C". The character was part of frequent storylines involving alcohol and substance abuse.
