Penelope Cruz has sparked reports that she is secretly following Scientology and has been spending time at the religion's Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles.

Why make it a secret? Scientology is tres chic right now, at least among Hollywood starlets craving some media ink.

After Penelope Cruz split from an avid Scientologist Tom Cruise in 2004 after a three-year relationship, she has apparently retained her belief in the controversial religion, reports contactmusic.com.

Cruz has been a regular visitor at the Scientology Celebrity Centre in the two weeks leading up to the Academy Awards. "She spent several afternoons there. When she's in Los Angeles, she goes often," a source told the media.
