Under Californian law Nick Lachey is entitled to half of the earnings and assets acquired since their marriage on October 25, 2002. In addition to the split in assets and property Nick lachey will also be entitled to alimony for 18 months based on three years of their marriage.
Jessica Simpson’s earnings during that period have been substantial. Jessica has reportedly earned a whopping $35 million in the year 2004 itself. According to Forbes, Jessica Simpson earned $14 million during the last year.
Jessica Simpson, according to tmz.com, has offered Nick a paltry $1.5 million which he has declined setting the stage for a long drawn out legal battle on the issue.
Judge Dana Senit Henry is expected to sign the divorce decree within the next two weeks.
