Brad Pitt skipped Cannes premiere of his movie "Babel" for the good reason - according to him, Angelina Jolie is due any minute.

Brad Pitt issued a statement to explain his absence and sent his regrets and his congratulations to the cast and crew his new film Babel at the Cannes Film Festival.

 

“With the imminent arrival of the newest addition to our family, I’m unable to join Alejandro [Gonzalez Innaritu], Cate [Blanchett] and Gael Garcia Bernal and the rest of the cast and crew in introducing the film,” Brad Pitt said in an email.

Brad Pitt has confirmed that Angelina Jolie is set to give birth to their baby “imminently”.

"I am tremendously proud of Babel," Pitt said in his missive, "and want to congratulate everyone involved for this great achievement."

Brad Pitt is currently in Namibia, where Angelina Jolie is due to give birth to their first biological child.

The stars have two adopted children, four-year-old Maddox and baby Zahara.
