Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather announced they are to have a trial separation, citing constant media attention as detrimental to a harmonious relationship.

The couple's four-year marriage is in trouble after a series of bitter rows, reports the Daily Mirror.

Sir Paul McCartney has reportedly asked his wife Heather Mills for a trial separation, as former Beatle decided he could not face another emotionally draining argument.

"We really can't go on like this. Enough is enough," Paul McCartney, 63, told one friend, as quoted by the newspaper.

 

Heather Mills, 38, recently remained at home in East Sussex with daughter Beatrice Milly, 2.

Paul McCartney took a break in France to think about their future, Ananova reports.

Heather Mills married Paul McCartney in June 2002 in an elaborate ceremony at a castle in rural Ireland. If the split becomes permanent Heather Mills could get fourth part of Paul McCartney's multi-billion fortune.

Paul McCartney is currently the richest rock star in the world, with an estimated personal fortune of £762 million in 2004, estimated at £1.Billion as of 2005/6.

Aside from his musical work, Paul McCartney is a painter and a strong advocate for animal rights, landmine action, vegetarianism, and music education.
