According to People magazine, Katie Holmes and her baby daughter were discharged from the hospital within 24 hours of the birth.
A spokesperson for the couple earlier confirmed that both mother and baby were "doing well" but no other details about the birth were revealed.
Cruise announced the good news in a e-mail to TV host Diane Sawyer, who read it yesterday on “Good Morning America.” The actor said that "It's a girl! It's a girl! Her name is Suri and she is gorgeous."
Tom Cruise also said that baby was magnificent and also Katie Holmes was a champ.
According to the magazine, a source close to Katie Holmes said that the baby "has lots and lots of dark hair and big, blue eyes".
Baby Suri was born at a hospital in Los Angeles on Tuesday and weighed 7lbs 7oz. Suri means "Princess" in Hebrew or "Red Rose" in Persian.
