At the London premiere of War of the Worlds, a man pulled a practical joke at Tom Cruise by squirting him in the face with water.

Tom Cruise was meeting with press outside the movie theater on Leicester Square, when the fake reporter squirted him in the face with a water gun masked as a microphone.

Witnesses say Tom Cruise first laughed but then swiftly grabbed the prankster’s hand and asked "Why would you do that?"

Tom Cruise told him, "Don't run away. That's incredibly rude. I'm here giving you an interview and you do that ... it's incredibly rude."

"Do you like thinking less of people, is that it? You're a jerk ... jerk ... you're a jerk," Cruise added.

The man was barely audible with his excuse and seemed shocked.

Police detained the man who squirted Cruise and arrested three other men involved in the incident.

It turned out the four men were working on a new comedy show for British television. Apparently, the crew was shooting a comedy sketch.
