Recovering pop diva Kylie Minogue is spending her 37th birthday with family and friends in the Melbourne hospital.

The Australian-born singer, who had successful surgery to remove a breast tumor on May 20, is having a low-key celebration, her management has confirmed.

"Kylie is spending the day with family and friends in Melbourne," Kylie’s spokeswoman said.

She also said every effort was being made to ensure that Kylie enjoyed the day, and official business was on hold during her recovery.

"We've leaving Kylie to just enjoy the day," the spokeswoman said.

A gift was delivered to the home, and well wishers also dropped off two birthday cards. A cake in a box was also delivered, thought to have been ordered by a member of the paparazzi press, while another well wisher erected a banner at the entrance to the street which read "Happy Birthday Kylie, Love Ronan".

The singer's breast cancer was discovered in its earliest and most treatable stages earlier this month and Kylie Minogue is expected to make a full recovery.
