Professional dancer Derek Hough of "Dancing With the Stars" was hospitalized Tuesday with a neck injury suffered during a rehearsal. The dancer is paired this season with Shannon Elizabeth.

Derek Hough, who is the brother of fellow "Dancing With the Stars" dancer Julianne Hough, was taken to a L.A. hospital for examination.

Derek was examined and kept for observation and later released, an ABC spokesperson said. They added that the injury did not appear to be serious.

"Dancing With the Stars" was plagued with mishaps last season, including Maria Osmond fainting on stage and Jane Seymour's mother passed away.
