South Park episode that implies that Tom Cruise is gay and makes fun of Scientology is nominated for the Emmy Award for best animated program, FOX news report.

The episode "Trapped in the Closet" is said to have angered Tom Cruise and Isaac Hayes, ex-voice of Chef. It was rumoured that Tom Cruise inspired the decision to shelve the episode.]

The episode shows Nicole Kidman and fellow Scientologist John Travolta attempting to coax a fictional Tom Cruise character out of a closet, with Nicole Kidman saying: "Don't you think this has gone on long enough? It's time for you to come out of the closet. You're not fooling anyone."

 

The episode also showed Stan - believed by the Tom Cruise character to be the reincarnation of Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard - having a pop at Cruise's acting abilities, The Register (UK) reports.

Tom Cruise's fellow Scientologist Isaac Hayes reportedly quit because he was upset with the episode.

After the episode was aired in November 2005, Tom Cruise allegedly called Comedy Central and demanded that it be pulled. Cruise's people denied he asked for it.
