Eyeliner has been seen all over fall-winter runways. Now, it’s time to perfect the skill, even if your artistic skills are barely there.
Eyeliner in metallic berry hues or in basic black is coming back strong this year, and as fall approaches, it’s time to arm with essential tools: a khol, a slanted brush and a cake eyeliner for seasoned fashionista.
The easiest way to apply eyeliner is using khol – such as Guerlain Terracotta Loose Powder Khol. Dip a cool metal stick into a loose powder, close your eye and quickly sweep the stick inside the lashes. The applicator leaves just the exact amount of loose liner both in upper and bottom lashline. Tip: Hold a folded tissue below the lower lashes to catch the failing powder as you line the inside lower lids.
If you choose a traditional pencil, avoid harsh lines. Sue Devitt, Sephora expert, says about eyes: "I've made a fool-proof, mistake-proof eye intensifier pencil because that sharp line is so unflattering."
Sue Devitt eyeliner comes with a built-in blending tip, but you can also use a Q-Tip or your finger to smudge the line for a sexy, smoldering look. Wind the outer end of the line upwards, to avoid drawing a droopy sad eye. Instead, aim for a kitten eye.
To make your liner absolutely indestructible, draw the line with a khol pencil and top it with a thin line of black eyeshadow, perhaps, with a bit of shimmer in it (MAC Tuxedo is your best bet.) This way, the eyeliner will stay smudge-proof till you wipe it before going to bed. Guaranteed!
