Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were never officially married by Catholic Church standards.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were never officially married by Catholic Church standards, BBC suggested Monday.
Even though Nicole Kidman got her first marriage to Tom Cruise annulled so that she and Keith Urban could get married in a Catholic chapel, it seems like Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were never married at all - at least from Catholic Church's point of view.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise wed in a Scientology ceremony, which means Nicole wasn't legally married at that time.
Father Paul Coleman, the priest who presided over Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's traditional nuptials in Sydney, told BBC News that in Nicole Kidman's first marriage, the requirements for a valid union were not fulfilled.
"The Catholic Church sets down requirements to have a valid Catholic marriage," Catholic priest said.
Which means, since Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman never said "I do" in Catholic ceremony and were divorced in 2001, Nicole Kidman's marriage to Keith Urban is in fact her first one.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have left for a romantic secret honeymoon in Carinbbeans before returning to the States to build their own family nest in Nashville, Tennessee.
