Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban got married Sunday in a Roman Catholic ceremony at a stone church overlooking Sydney's Manly beach. Nicole Kidman waved to the crowd as white Rolls Royce carried her and other guests in the suburb of Manly where the ceremony took place.
"Nicole and Keith just want a normal wedding and to celebrate with their friends and family," said Rob Potts, Urban's manager.
"They're both just happy to have their family around them at this time and both are really excited and very happy about the wedding."
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Nicole Kidman's preferred design house, Balenciaga, has produced a white gown with "lots of high collars." Nicole Kidman looked magnificent in a clad in a pearly lace-and-chiffon Balenciaga creation, complete with veil, clutching a bouquet of white roses.
The choice of Nicolas Ghesqueire of Balenciaga as a wedding dress creator was rather unusual, as Nicole Kidman has become an iconic face of Chanel and its fragrance Chanel ¹5. However, the dress looked stunning, just a tiny bit old-fashioned, completely matching the tone of the wedding.
During a traditional Catholic ceremony Nicole Kidman was given away by her father, Antony, while a quartet from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra played in the background.
The candlelit ceremony was conducted by longtime family friend Father Paul Coleman and included readings from the Gospel selected by Kidman's mother, Janelle.
Many of the reported guests said they did not know when or where the wedding will take place until the last minute.
230-plus guests included Australians Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Kidman's sister, Antonia and Naomi Watts was among the bridesmaids and "Moulin Rouge" director Baz Luhrmann helped film the wedding. Rather than bringing gifts, wedding guests were instead asked to donate to several charities chosen by the happy couple.
Nicole Kidman's two children from her previous marriage to Cruise, 13-year-old Isabella and 11-year-old Connor, were also in the wedding party.
