Avril Lavigne is all set to get married to fellow Canadian musician Deryck Whibley. The happy couple announced their engagement this weekend.

Deryck Whibley, the frontman for the punk-pop group Sum 41, popped the question in Europe where they are both on tour. Avril, 20, said yes. No Eiffel tower was involved.

Publicists for both musicians confirmed the engagement.

Fellow Canadian pop-rockers, Avril and Deryck had been good friends for several years before they began dating in 2004.

Avril and Deryck live together in Los Angeles in a house they bought last year together. No wedding plans were released yet.

Avril Lavigne's debut album, Let Go, (which was released in June 2002), has become platinum. She took pop album of the year for Under My Skin and the fan's choice award.

Avril Lavigne's Try To Shut Me Up world tour is a huge success. Avril is currently finishing the European leg of her world tour.
