Reese Witherspoon Starry-Eyed About Oscar

Reese Witherspoon won her first Oscar award for her performance in the Johnny Cash biopic.

Reese Witherspoon won her first Oscar award for her performance in the Johnny Cash biopic.

The role of June Carter required Reese Witherspoon to take intensive music and vocal lessons to play the country legend alongside the film's star, Joaquin Phoenix, who underwent similar training.

Reese Witherspoon has already won Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards, as well as top honors from movie critics.

Reese Witherspoon won over Felicity Huffman who played a transsexual in the road trip comedy "Transamerica" and Judi Dench as a wealthy widow who stages a nude revue in "Mrs. Henderson Presents." Other nominees included Keira Knightley in "Pride & Prejudice" and Charlize Theron in "North Country."

Reese Witherspoon became best known for her role in 2001's "Legally Blonde," and its sequel "Legally Blonde 2" for which she received a $15 million paycheck, making her one of Hollywood's top-paid actresses. Reese Witherspoon's other notable film credits include "Vanity Fair" and "Sweet Home Alabama."

Reese Witherspoon is also famous for the most glamorous fashion faux-pas, when she appeared at the 2006 Golden Globes Awards in a white Chanel dress. It was soon discovered that actress Kirsten Dunst had worn the same dress to the award show three years earlier.
