Fill Halloween with Gourmet Chocolate Treats

Move over candied apples, and make way for apples drenched in luscious chocolate.

Move over candied apples as your Halloween treat of choice, and make way for apples drenched in luscious chocolate. Halloween may be the ultimate holiday for sweet tooths, but it doesn't mean you have to skimp on quality.

If you're hosting a Halloween party and you don't want the traditional drug store candy, Swiss Master Chocolatier, Hans Gellar, offers his expertise on entertaining and provides premium chocolate trends.

For example, using dark chocolate for dipping and for mousse in your Halloween treats. "The recipe which is very simple and the mousse is excellent, it's easy to make. You use cream and chocolate and you just heat the cream, dissolve the chocolate, cool it down and then whip it, put it on a square of chocolate," says Gellar.

Lindt Chocolate Mousse Recipe

Ingredients:

2 bars of Dark Chocolate
1 bar of Lindt Extra Milk
1 dl milk
3 dl double cream
3 fresh eggs
1 tablespoon of sugar

Break the chocolate into pieces and place into a bowl with the milk. Melt in a bain marie (do not bring the water to the boil). Whisk the egg yolks to a foam, remove the bowl from the bain marie and stir the yolks into the mixture. Beat the egg whites and sugar to obtain a creamy texture. Fold in to the chocolate mixture. Whip the cream until it too is of a creamy texture and mix into the chocolate mixture. Pour the mousse into a bowl and cover with cling film. Leave to chill overnight at a temperature of 1 - 5 °C.

Use two tablespoons to spoon out egg-shaped mousse servings or use an ice-cream scoop for rounder balls. Place these onto dessert plates and garnish with whipped cream and fruits.
