Natalie Glebova of Toronto, Ontario, was awarded the coveted Miss Universe 2005 title this evening in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 12-judge panel chose beauties from Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Canada for the final round. Miss Puerto Rico was the first runner-up.
Natalie Glebova of Canada was crowned Miss Universe 2005 by Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins of Australia.
After her win of Miss Universe Canada in January, the 23-year-old communication and marketing student was understandably ecstatic.
"I was in a complete state of shock," Natalie exclaimed. "Of course, I always dreamt of winning, but in all honesty, I never thought it would actually happen. It's great... probably the best day of my life!"
