Jayn Simpson Returns to L’Oréal FASHIONWEEK

Rising Canadian fashion talent Jayn Simpson is coming back to L’Oréal FASHIONWEEK with her Victorian inspired Spring/Summer 2006 womenswear collection.

Following her official well received runway debut at last season’s fashion week, rising talent Jayn Simpson is coming back to L’Oréal FASHIONWEEK with her Victorian inspired Spring/Summer 2006 womenswear collection on Tuesday, October 18 at 6:00 p.m.

“My clothes reflect who I am,” says Jayn Simpson “and this season I am returning to the runway with a new collection and a brand new venture. I am very pleased to announce the recent opening of my first boutique in Toronto.”

Located in Toronto’s exclusive Bloor-Yorkville area, at 114 Avenue Road, the store carries ready-to-wear, couture and a bridal collection.

Jayn’s Spring/Summer 2006 womenswear collection is feminine and strong, inspired by a mix of romantic Victorian and old Hollywood glamour - Lauren Bacall's tailored look with the sexy attitude in "The Big Sleep". Maintaining a Victorian underpinning, Jayn has re-invented the romantic era into a "new age corsetry" with an urban sensibility.

Skirts are the cornerstones of this season’s showcase, focusing on a flattering, easy length for day and longer lengths for her expanded eveningwear collection. While remaining consistent with her signature classic cuts and glamorous tailoring, Jayn has played with more colours, prints and textures in this season’s collection. Vivid colours such as sea green, deep purple, mandarin, peach, and pink are used alone or in combination.

“ My new collection is definitely sexier but fit for spring’s practical and classic woman,” says Jayn Simpson. “I've opted for simple, bias cuts on shimmering silk, chiffon and satin fabrics that are flirty and feminine but everyday wearable.”

Milliner Madeleine France Cormier has created strong, sophisticated hats for Jayn’s new spring line-up ranging from pink tweed baretts - the perfect addition to her feminine pink tweed skirt suit and delicate black feathers. Feathers are used liberally in Jayn's collection to adorn her gown collection.

Jayn graduated from the Fashion Design program in December of 2000 from the Blanche Macdonald Centre for Applied Design in Vancouver B.C. She was presented the Artistic Achievement Award for design and illustration of her graduating class. After returning to Ottawa, she launched her own line in 2002. She was immediately bought by the prestigious Justine's boutique on Sussex Drive. In August 2005, Jayne opened her first boutique

The collection will be available at her showroom at 114 Avenue Road and through a small number of exclusive and select retailers in the United States, Canada.

L’Oréal FASHIONWEEK is located at Muzik, 15 Saskatchewan Road on the CNE grounds.
