Pirate chic is hot this Halloween. A survey commissioned by the National Retail Federation predicted that more than 1.7 million American adults will transform themselves into kohl-lined sea bandits.
At least we won't be seeing a lot of Sarah Palin lookalikes.
The reason for the popularity of pirate chic could be explained by the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
And it also allows men legally wear eyeliner.
This year, dressing up like a pirate is more trendy than trying your hand at zombies, cowboys, devils and naughty maids combined.
However, among children pirates pirates rank low, being only 5th most popular Halloween look, with Hanna Montana taking the top spot with 1.5 million expected dressups.
