Tunics: The Shroud of Fashion

Whether it's sporting an empire waist, a deep V-neck or a gem-embellished detail, the tunic, according to a trend report by Westin Rinehart, has emerged as a boho-chic staple.

The versatile, body-flattering tunic can be called upon to dress up jeans, slum-down dress pants or serve as a beach cover-up.

Choose the right tunic: Make sure you get a tunic that hits right about mid-thigh. Anything longer will make your torso look longer. If you're curvy, try and shy away from empire waists, as they tend to create a fuller look.

Make sure the tunic is fitted. A great summery look is to layer a plain cotton tunic with different colored camis underneath. Look for sheer fabrics to give your look more depth.

The length of the tunic creates the illusion of a longer torso, and can make legs look short. Balance it out with elongating pants. Wear a right pant with a tunic. Chose a pant that makes your legs look long. Add a touch of glam to this look by adding a low slung ethnic belt to a colorful tunic.

Try and stick to a heel when wearing this look to add length to your legs. If you're average or above average height, you may be able to pull off heels, so be sure to try both to see what works best for you. Wedges can be slipped into and worn with the latest spring and summer offerings, such as wrap dresses, capris, walking shorts and tiered peasant skirts.
