GIVENCHY Announces New Womenswear Designer

GIVENCHY announces the appointment of Riccardo Tisci as Womenswear Creative Director. He will be responsible for designing the Haute Couture, Women’s Ready-to-Wear and Women’s Accessory collections.

GIVENCHY announces the appointment of Riccardo Tisci as Womenswear Creative Director. He will be responsible for designing the Haute Couture, Women’s Ready-to-Wear and Women’s Accessory collections.

This announcement marks an important stage in GIVENCHY’s strategic development of the brand identity and its women’s lines. As Creative Director, Riccardo Tisci will design exclusively for GIVENCHY. Very pleased with the arrival of Riccardo Tisci, Marco Gobbetti, CEO of GIVENCHY Couture states “his talent, his modern creativity, and the elegance of his creations are essential to leading GIVENCHY into the future.”

Italian-born Riccardo Tisci began designing at the age of 17 before moving to London, where he studied at Central Saint Martin’s College. Recently praised by the international fashion press for his Couture-inspired creations presented in Milan, 30 year old Riccardo Tisci has been designing his own collections since 1999 and has also acted as design consultant for several Italian labels.

“I am delighted to join GIVENCHY,” comments Tisci, “and feel honoured to be able to bring my own vision to this legendary French Couture House, whose history is a great inspiration to me.”

The GIVENCHY Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2005 collection will be Riccardo Tisci’s first creation for the House.

Curren GIVENCHY womenswear designer is Julien Macdonald who resigns to develop his own line.

The menswear for GIVENCHY is designed by Oswald Boateng, most famous for his luxurious jackets and coats worn by Neo in Matrix trilogy.
