Toronto Fashion Week Opens Today

L'Oreal Fashion Week in Toronto, opens today in Liberty Grand complex with shows of fall-winter 2005/06 collections by Arthur Mendonca, Paul Hardy and Mackage.

L’Oreal Fashion Week, (formerly known as Toronto Fashion Week), is Canada’s most recognized fashion event, attracting Canadian designers from the Atlantic to the Pacific. L’Oreal Fashion Week draws industry representatives from around the globe, uniting media and buyers with more than 100 up-and-coming and established Canadian fashion designers.

The first show of the opening day, by Arthur Mendonca, is expected to be a hit. Arthur Mendonça launched his label in 2002. His collections have been shown in Toronto, Los Angeles and São Paulo. Arthur won gold at the 2004 National Post Design Exchange Awards and was a semi-finalist at the 2005 Rising Star Awards.

The next designer showing on the first day of L’Oreal Toronto Fashion Week is Paul Hardy. His show will be opened by Heather Marks, one of few Canadian models gracing international catwalks.

The closing show of the day, Mackage, is one of the most sought after at the opening day of Toronto Fashion Week. According to WWD “Mackage designers, Dahan and Elfassy’s wool jackets with leather detailing are charming in the most sexy jet-setter way.”

Even though FDCC never mentions Toronto Fashion Monitor as Toronto Fashion Week media coverage provider, we will publish photos from most of the shows.

Log online to Toronto Fashion Monitor daily for collection reviews and photo galleries. This way, you will see the fall-winter collections three months before they will appear in print magazines. And it’s free!
