Pamela Anderson: Blonde Who Cares

Pamela Anderson and Dean and Dan Caten gave patriotic praise to Canada while Pam also mentioned how much she liked rubber.

MAC Viva Glam V spokesperson Pamela Anderson kicked off the runway show and took to the stage wearing a Dsquared2 dress.

The emblematic red dress had a deep, plunging neckline and a DEEP upward slit from the bottom. Knotted just above the belly button and secured with a large Crystal brooch, the knee length gown also had a slit right up the front revelaing a matching pantie and a nude-coloured lingerie Pamela might've chosen to wear underneath. Designed specifically for Pamela Anderson, the dress hugged her every curve – revealing more than many people bargained for.

“They [DSquared2] designed this dress for me,” Pamela Anderson confirmed, murmuring in her trademark tweety-bird voice, “They were the first to create the dress made of rubber. It was made to feel like a condom.”

Molto sexy!

Pamela Anderson addressed the crowd, singing the praises of Dsquared2, who she also cited as one of her favourite designers.

The internationally renowned Canadian born duo behind the Dsquared2 label, Dean and Dan Caten also joined Anderson on stage wearing matching red suit jackets and black bow ties.

“We participated in the very first Fashion Cares,” said Dean (or maybe Dan? We were never sure!) “And people are still dying. We can change that.”

Born in the city of Ladysmith on Vancouver Island, Canada, Pamela Anderson made her way to L.A. in 1990. Since then she has become a Hollywood icon, gracing the cover of Playboy in the United States a record- breaking 11 times and appearing on more magazine covers worldwide than any star of her generation.

Pamela Anderson is now entering a new phase both professionally and personally. She recently launched "The Pamela Anderson," a cruelty-free, comprehensive clothing line designed for every woman, that includes jeans, T shirts, lingerie, swimsuits, jewellery, watches, sunglasses, non-leather shoes and non-leather handbags and pet accessories (a percentage of profits from the line goes to PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a cause that is close to her heart).

Anderson is personally involved in every aspect of the collection as a co-designer with creative and artistic control.

Pamela Anderson also recently received the first Linda McCartney Humanitarian award for her work with PETA. Paul McCartney presented the award to her.

In 2004, Pamela Anderson added the title of author to her resume with the release of Star, a delicious roman-a-clef that is an energetic blend of fact and fiction. Star made the New York Times Best Seller List; her second novel, Starstuck, was published in 2005.

Pamela Anderson also recently wrote a syndicated column in the women's magazines Jane in the U.S. and Marie Claire in the UK, as well as an advice column in Canadian Elle, where she focused each month on women's issues drawn from her extensive and well-publicized personal history.

Pamela Anderson was last seen on television starring in the FOX series "Stacked". She spent two seasons on the sitcom "Home Improvement" and five seasons starring on the show "Baywatch," which reached a worldwide audience via syndication. She created, produced and starred for four seasons in her own series, "VIP," which was also syndicated worldwide, and developed and starred in her own animated cable series, "Stripperella."

Having fought through the international courts to own her own name, Pamela Anderson launched her own website, www.pamelaanderson.com, where she has started to sell merchandise as well as keep a diary for her fans. She recently created her own slot machines with David LaChappelle. Her future projects include a club, a restaurant and a feature comedy coming to theaters next winter.

Pamela Anderson lives in Los Angeles with her two children, Brandon and Dylan.

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the annual Fashion Cares gala and fundraiser, as the design and entertainment communities joined together in support of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), raising $850,000.
