FASHION CARES 2006: Holliday Met Blue Men Group

When you go to Fashion Cares, be prepared: you won't want to hear another piece of music for at least a week!

Fashion Cares cares for your music education: each year you are treated for a music experience that otherwise would place you in a lengthy queue or overpriced online tickets.

This year, Fashion Cares 2006 presented Broadway legend Jennifer Holliday that took the stage along with Grammy-winner Jody Watley and Canadian pop¬funk group The Philosopher Kings and Divine Brown.

Blending classic with contemporary, both the National Ballet of Canada and Momix will be sharing their dance talents and aerial artists Hangtime Circus will be on-hand to dazzle the crowd with their overheard acrobatics.

Rumour had it that Prince (previously known as Artist Previously Known as Prince) was scheduled for surprise appearance, but obviously he couldn’t make it. Too bad for him: renowned personalities and entertainers including RuPaul, Lil' Kim, Linda Evangelista, kd lang, Lionel Ritchie, Village People, Gloria Gaynor, Melissa Etheridge, Sarah Brightman and Pamela Anderson have lent their support to Fashion Cares over the 20 years.

The afterparty was rocked with top DJ's on hand to keep the music pumping featuring headliner DJ Nicolas Matar and DJ's Dwayne Minard and jojofores.

Over the past 20 years, Fashion Cares has raised nearly ten million dollars for the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) and 2006 was another successful year.

This year, Fashion Cares' 5,500 guests gathered together to raise $850,000, as a result of ticket sales, sponsorship, and shopping at the BMO Boutique in addition to silent and live auctions.

Fashion Cares is an annual gala event in support of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), with the goal of building awareness of HIV/AIDS and raising funds for ACT. Over 5,000 people attend the event each year and more than 1,000 volunteer their time.
