George Brown Theatre School gala event celebrates the opening of its spectacular new performance space and educational facility, the Young Centre for the Performing Arts.
On Saturday, November 26, 2005, George Brown Theatre School takes centre stage at a gala celebration of its new home at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, in the Distillery Historic District.
When the Act 1, Scene 1 curtain rises, theatre school patrons will be treated to a stellar night of entertainment, including a cocktail reception and tour of the Young Centre followed by a gourmet dinner at and performances.
The Gala will take place at the Stone Distillery - Fermenting Cellar Event Facility.
Attendees will be entertained by fantastic headliner acts from the theatre school students including; a fencing demonstration of stage combat, a scene from the fall production of the great classic Jane Eyre, and a musical number from the Stephen Sondheim hit Follies.
The Hon. Lincoln Alexander is serving as Honorary Chairman. Co Chairs of the Act 1, Scene 1 Gala are Helen M. Kearns and Steven K. Hudson.
"We are proud to host the Act 1, Scene 1 Gala celebrating the new home of the George Brown Theatre School, and saluting the wealth of talent the school fosters and encourages," said Steven Hudson in a statement.
Gala proceeds will support the Theatre Production Fund, which underwrites the school's five annual productions directed by Canada's finest theatre professionals.
