One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale: Get Canadian!
Opening day festivities celebrate all things Canadian with music, fashion and silent auction fundraiser for SickKids Foundation.
Holiday shopping takes on a distinctively Canadian flavour Thursday, November 24th, when more than 750 artisans from across the country descend on the National Trade Centre in Toronto for the One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale.
Opening day celebrations for the 11-day event will include a fashion show, a silent auction fundraiser for the SickKids Foundation and special musical performances by Canadian musicians.
This year's Show brings many of Canada's best artists - including scores of returning favorites and almost 200 new exhibitors - together under one roof. "We chose this year's theme, 'Get Canadian', because everything at the Show is made in Canada, by Canadians from all over the country," says Patti Stewart, director of the One of a Kind Show. "Each piece is a gift from the skilled hands of a Canadian craftsperson, and every purchase supports the history and tradition of Canadian craftsmanship."
The One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale provides an unforgettable shopping experience for thousands of people in search of the unique, the fantastic and the handcrafted. It also gives visitors an opportunity to speak with the artisans and to see and touch work they might not find anywhere else.
With so much to see and do, the Show is organized into unique 'neighborhoods' which allow visitors to easily find the products they would like to see. Shoppers can explore the delectable treats and gourmet preserves of Flavours, presented by Glad Press n' Seal; original works of art and hands-on demonstrations in the Visual Art Gallery, presented by the Globe and Mail; hot fashions and prêt a porter shows of the Fashion District, presented by Toronto Life; handcrafted, innovative and environmentally friendly pieces of One of a Kind Show Green; and the best of new Canadian talent in Rising Stars.
The One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale, now in its 31st year, features more than 750 carefully selected artisans from across Canada. The Show opens Thursday, November 24th, and continues for 11 days through to Sunday, December 4th, at the National Trade Centre, Exhibition Place, Toronto, ON.
