George Lucas, Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor were among the stars at Britain's first showing of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
Red carpet, star-studded audience and five thousand Star War fans celebrated London premiere of the latest Star Wars movie, "Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith."
Thousands of people, many dressed up as their favorite characters in the six-part saga, gathered outside the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square to catch a glimpse of the cast in the climax of a day of Star Wars mania.
"In Cannes, the people were standing in the sunshine; here they're in the rain. These fans are definitely the most dedicated. I give them all credit," Lucas told reporters as London prepares for the Star Wars Marathon.
"Revenge of the Sith is a remarkable movie, and this extraordinary celebration reflects the fun and excitement that are the hallmarks of Star Wars," said Star Wars’ producer, Rick McCallum.
"The Star Wars movies have a strong connection to the United Kingdom, so it's very fitting to hold this one-of-a-kind event here in London."
The first-ever Star Wars Marathon will kick off "Celebration Day" with a breakfast screening of A New Hope and continue throughout the day with The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, followed by the U.K.'s first public presentation of Revenge of the Sith.
"Galactic Passports" to the Star Wars Marathon cost ₤50 per person (approx. $95 US). Only those holding a "Galactic Passport" will be able to complete the journey and see Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith before its UK release on May 19.
All other events at the Star Wars Celebration Day on Leicester Square will be open to the public.
