Montblanc worked with noted designers and artists Andree Putman, Tom Sachs and Helmut Jahn to create limited edition packaging for the iconic Meisterstück 149 fountain pen.
A favorite of collectors, the 149 fountain pen has set the standard for all modern day pens.
With each purchase of the special editions, Montblanc will donate a portion of sales to UNICEF.
To further support the fight against illiteracy, Montblanc and UNICEF enlisted the help of such noted celebrities as recent Oscar winner Morgan Freedman, plus Ethan Hawke, Angelica Huston, Marlee Matlin, Sir Richard Branson, Olympic winners Nadia Comaneci and Mark Spitz, Glenn Close, Sir Roger Moore, authors Candace Bushnell and Jackie Collins, artist Anh Duong, Alec Baldwin, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, Andie McDowell, Spike Lee and Luciano Pavarotti to personally handwrite their thoughts and feelings about the importance of literacy and handwriting.
Their statements, along with their image and the Montblanc pen they wrote with are being auctioned on eBay through March 21st, with all proceeds benefiting UNICEF.
For each celebrity statement received, Montblanc donated an additional $4,810 (the height of the famous Mont Blanc mountain in meters) to UNICEF.
