Tolkien's Son to Stop Hobbit MoviesThe son of author JRR Tolkien is making an attempt to stop Hollywood from filming two movies based on The Hobbit.
Christopher Tolkien will appeal to a Californian judge on June 6 to "terminate" film rights to The Hobbit, Britain's The Sunday Times reported.
Christopher Tolkien claims the Tolkien family is owed $200 million by New Line Cinema over the hugely successful Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Peter Jackson, who directed the Rings trilogy, is to produce two Hobbit films. Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro is set to direct.
Carpenters are to begin working on sets for the Middle-Earth epic later this week.
The films will cost $375m to make over the next three years.
