Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the latest in the JK Rowling series, has been named Book of the Year at the British Book Awards.
J.K. Rowling's sixth book in Harry Potter series beat off competition from Jamie Oliver (Jamie's Italy), Sharon Osbourne (My Autobiography) and Jeremy Clarkson (The World According to Clarkson) to the title.

J.K. Rowling, 40, said: "I'm delighted that Harry Potter continues to give so much pleasure to adults and children, and I'm honoured to receive this award."
"I am enjoying writing the last book in the series and it's coming along nicely."
According to J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter novels, the main character Harry Potter appeared in her head while she was on a train from Manchester to London in 1991.
J.K. Rowling once said that her favourite place to write the first Harry Potter book was at an Edinburgh café table while drinking endless cups of coffee.
Sales from Harry POtter books, as well as royalties from the films and merchandise, have made Rowling a billionaire and the 620th wealthiest person in the world. For example, Apple Computer plans to release a limited edition iPod with the Hogwarts logo engraved on the back. This limited edition iPod would be dubbed the Harry Potter Collector's iPod.
