This week we review the line of new body treatments by Body Bistro, a skincare company which infuses Ayurvedic principles with modern biotechnology elements.
The line The Body Bistro Body Products line features: Bamboo + Wine Exfoliating Body Buff, Tapioca + Soy Milk Bath Infusion, and Grapefruit + Gotu Kola Stimulating Shower Gel. The trio of Body Products combines Ayurvedic recipes and the healing power of Vastu Shastra (Indian Feng Shui) in a 100% Vegan certified formulation.
"Body Bistro Harmonizing Body Products care for the whole body, cleansing, rejuvenating and protecting to reveal total inner and outer beauty and harmony," explains BODY BISTRO founder and president Carina Chatlani.
The background: Ayurvedic and vegan range Body Bistro was launched by Los-Angeles based Carina Chatlani, who says she studied the recipes with monks in undisclosed Himalayan monastery. Prepared with good intentions with the purest herbal extracts from Burma, Nepal, Tibet, Mongolia and India and natural food ingredients, Body Bistro products are appreciated by celebrities including Halle Berry, Alanis Morrisette, Cher, Bruce Willis, Queen Latifah and even Paris Hilton!
Products:
Bamboo + Wine Body Buff cleanses and exfoliates the outer layers of the skin with Bamboo Extract, Date Seed and crushed Grape Seed in the base of wine and sugar cane extracts. Kukui Nut and Coconut oils and other natural oils enrich with moisture and nutrients. The buff is a true luxury to use – we found you can even leave it on skin for a few minutes to let it work as a mask.
Grapefruit + Gotu Kola Stimulating Shower Gelle protects, detoxifies and harmonizes skin with Gotu Kola and Turmeric Root extracts while Yucca and Kukui Seed oil reduce redness and soothe sunburned skin.
Tapioca + Soy Milk Bath Infusion reportedly boosts elasticity, helps refine skin tone, and heals the skin. The milky powder which has to be dissolved in the water is formulated with Soya proteins; Gotu Kola and Turmeric Root extracts and Coconut Oil refine skin tone, rejuvenate skin and prevent wrinkles.
To our greatest regret, the bath infusion caked in our unholy Toronto water forming curd-like substance on the water surface. The company chemist assured us that it’s exactly the way the bath powder should behave, but we experienced less than perfect bath experience.
Pros: Forget hippie-dippy laid-back packaging and hemp-seed overload; Body Bistro products are so-chic and prettily packaged. All products have clean, fresh natural-smelling scents.
Cons: Even though formulations are vegan and yoga-friendly, they are not 100% natural, with paraben preservatives, silicones and chemical lubricants.
Added bonus: Celebrity status gained through fab body scrub. Being extremely star-struck (hey, we do celebrity news!) we experienced a decadent pleasure using star-approven beauty products
Cost: USD$28-35 online; local prices depend on a retailer.
Where to buy: in the USA: Henri Bendel, Nordstrom, Planet Blue, Ritz-Carlton hotels and leading yoga and holistic centers.
