We keep our promises, says a slogan of French skincare line RoC. With high-end ingredients and no-fuss packaging, the line launched a duo of true multitaskers. Here's the story.
Background Blah-Blah: When I was sixteen, I dreaded the very idea of a face cream. I looked at the lineup of bottles and jars at my Mom’s bathroom counter and the very idea of putting something greasy, slimy and flowery-smelling on my face bored me to death. Splash-splash of water, and there you go, under a merciless Southern sun.
Fifteen years later I do the following: cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer, sunblock, topped with foundation on a dressy day, a concealer on the casual day, frosted with a shimmery powder which is supposed to give me a healthy youthful glow. I scrub, peel, nourish, fight wrinkles, feed the remnants and scrub them off again. I do whatever I can to look like that stubborn sixteen-year-old who dreaded a face lotion and has never heard of sunblock.
The scientific stuff: The truth behind Retin-Ol Multi-Correction line by RoC. The face and eye creams are densely packed with ingredients which erase the nasty stuff from your face including wrinkles, sagging, brown spots and dry patches. The eye cream even fights dark circles and puffy bags. All that is possible thanks to ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), copper, magnesium, zinc, lactoferrin (lactic bio-active ferment peptide) and retinol in the formula. The eye cream also boasts soy protein which evens the complexion and ruscogenin which protects cell membranes.
How it works: It WORKS. Period. You have to use it for at least a week to see the results. The pores diminished; the dark spots lightened, even those that formed in place of acne scars; the crow feet wrinkles became less noticeable at first, and now, after two weeks, are almost invisible. I can smile with confidence knowing that my eye shadow won’t disappear in the fan of lines!
Pros: You can use the line day and night, which is a great hassle-free feature for me. Make sure to use the sunblock with high SPF at the daytime (higher than recommended SPF15), because retinol makes you extra-sensitive to the sun rays.
Cons: May not be suitable for people who are sensitive to retinol. Again, the sun protection is a must when you use these products.
Results: The pores diminished; the dark spots lightened, even those that formed in place of acne scars; the crow feet wrinkles became less noticeable at first, and now, after two weeks, are almost invisible. I can smile with confidence knowing that my eye shadow won’t disappear in the fan of lines!
Added bonus: Lovely light flowery scent, almost elusive. Penetrates fast and without a trace, so can be used under a makeup. To me, "Made in France" is another bonus, too.
Cost: Face treatment, $42; eye treatment, $35; as a limited-edition set of two, $55 at Shoppers Drug Mart only. Frankly speaking, I used to pay A LOT MORE for the same ingredients in high-end lines.
Where to buy: In selected Shopper Drug Marts and other fine drugstores and departments stores.
