Cargo Saves the World One Lipstick at a Time

Cargo introduced Plantlove, first ever botanical lipstick in 100% biodegradable packaging.

Cargo Cosmetics, Canadian hottest makeup export after MAC, is introducing its hottest innovation ever: a lipstick packaged in 100% biodegradable tube.

The PlantLove collection of twelve new lipsticks makes you feel good at every level. From eco-friendly packaging to botanical lipstick formula and parts of proceeds going to St.Jude Children Research Hospital, world's premier pediatric cancer research center, Cargo inspires any cold-blooded botox-quenched cynicist to go green.

So what's great about PlantLove? Let's start with packaging. Made entirely from polymer derived from corn, it's completely biodegradable. Normally, plastic needs 1000 years to degrade. This one doesn't. Plus, it's greenhouse-gas neutral. Even the box is eco-friendly, made with recycled paper and infused with real plant seeds. Simply wet the package and plant. How cute is that?

The lipstick itself is plain gorgeous. Infused with meadowfoam and orchid essential waters, packed with jojoba, shea butter and vitamin E, it fights free radicals and fine wrinkles while being unbelievably soft and non-sticky. Zero mineral oils, zero petroleum.

We at Fashion Monitor love all things natural and organic but we are celebrity junkies, too. Needless to say, we loved the fact that six celebrities donated their names and creative effots to PlantLove. Courtney Cox, Lindsay Lohan, Mariska Hargitay, Maria Menounos, Evangeline Lilly and Sarah Chalke all collaborated with CARGO to create their perfect lipsticks. Shades are wearable and very pretty; we loved sheer sweet pink Lindsay for spring and sheer berry Cece (Courtney Cox) for now. There are also several beautiful shades named after places of ecological beauty, and we can't wait to try them, too. Next one in our shopping list is Yakushima, summery shimmery red. I guess Yakushima is as pretty, no matter where it is.

And to complement the new lippy grab a new Suedeblush by CARGO, too Not organical but very practical, since it blends three sheer lightly shimmery shades in one and matches virtually any skin tone.

CARGO's PlantLove is available in Sephora starting February 2007.
